Puppy Contract
(Purchase Agreement/Terms)
Although no one can truly "guarantee" that a puppy will not be afflicted with hereditary disorders, we do guarantee that we research pedigrees and health clearances to our best ability, and that we breed only sound dogs.
While we cannot "guarantee" that your puppy will be free of genetic defects, we do guarantee that both parents were reported to be free of hip dysplasia and hereditary eye diseases at the  time of breeding. Copies of these reports will be provided upon request.
Your Labrador puppy comes with a full guarantee that covers any genetic problem, which would prevent the dog from being certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or the Canine Eye Registration Foundation, Inc. (CERF).
We offer the guarantee upon compliance of the stated requirement by the purchaser.
Health Guarantee
Your puppy has been seen by my veterinarian, Dr. Douglas Allara, of Jefferson Animal Hospital, Charles Town, WV for dewclaw removal and general health check-up. Microchip implantation was performed at the Hillside Veterinarian Hospital, Charles Town, WV. At the age of six weeks, your puppy was seen by Dr. Smith of the Animal Eye Care Center of Gaithersburg, MD. All shots and worming are up to date. At the time you receive your puppy, its health will be rated in excellent condition. For this Health Guarantee to be in effect, you will need to take your pup to your veterinarian within three days of delivery for a well-puppy checkup. This ensures that your puppy is healthy and sound at the time you receive him/her. If the pup is found to be unsound or unhealthy at the time of delivery, the pup can be returned to us at your expense with a written explanation from your veterinarian along with all the paperwork and we will give you a full refund. If your puppy becomes ill after ten days of purchase we will not be responsible. This guarantee is applicable to the original owner and is non-transferable.
Hip Guarantee
In order to make a claim on a Hip Guarantee the  following must be adhered to:
The dog's hips are to be x-rayed after the age of 2 years (24 months) and before the age of 3 years (36 months). X-rays are to be submitted to the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for evaluation. If the OFA finds your dog's hips to be less than fair, you have the option of returning the dog, at your expense, to be replaced with another puppy of equal breeding from the next available agreed upon litter (with you paying the difference in price, if the replacement puppy is of greater value than the original purchase), a full refund, or you may choose a refund of 1/2 the purchase price and you keep the dog. This guarantee applies under the followinng contitions:
  1. We must receive a copy of the X-rays and a copy of the OFA results within 10 days of the findings.
  2. We must receive proof that the dog has been spayed or neutered.
  3. The AKC papers are to be signed over and sent back to us.
  4. This guarantee is void if the dog has sired or whelped a litter.
  5. This guarantee only applies to the original owner and is non-transferable.
  6. The OFA shall be the sole judge regarding hip dysplasia.
Eye Guarantee
A certified canine opthalmologist must check your puppy's eyes at the age of 12 months. The results should then be submitted to CERF for evaluation. If the dog's eyes are found to have evidence of a genetic disease, you have the option of returning the dog, at your expense, to be replaced with another puppy of  equal breeding from the next available agreed upon litter (with you paying the difference in price, if the replacement puppy is of greater value than the original purchase), a full refund, or you may choose a refund of 1/2 the purchase price and you keep the dog. This guarantee applies under the following conditions:
  1. We must receive a copy of the CERF results within 10 days of the findings.
  2. We must receive proof that the dog has been spayed or neutered.
  3. The AKC papers are to be signed over and sent back to us.
  4. This guarantee is  void if the dog has sired or whelped a litter.
  5. This guarantee applies to the original owner and is non-transferable.
  6. CERF shall be the sole judge regarding eyes.
It is understood that the above guarantees are expressly regarding congenital,  hereditary defects and any physical accident or injury to the dog voids this guarantee.
Each new owner assumes part of the responsibility for the orthopedic health of their dog. Nutritional and environmental factors also play a role in joint health. Poor nutrition and excess weight can contribute to joint disorders, as can injury. As a condition of the sale, you agree to feed a good quality dog food/canine diet, and you agree to keep the pup in good physical condition. You further agree to monitor the pup's growing weight to ensure that she/he does not become overweight. Monitor your puppy to make sure it receives proper exercise but does not get injured. Over and under exercising your puppy can negatively impact its health. Your puppy will benefit from regular walks and play sessions.
If at any time in your puppy's life, for any reason, you are unable to keep him/her, you agree to contact us, (we have the 1st right of refusal) so we can assist you in finding a new home. We want to ensure that all our puppies have the  good homes they deserve.
