Red Barn Ranch and Labradors, LLC, is a small family owned kennel located in the Shenandoah Valley. Our love of Labs began in 1984 with the purchase of our first AKC registered Labrador, Dewey Rasmuss, and continued to grow when Dewey Rasmuss II joined us in 1992. Our breeding program began to take shape in 1998 with the purchase of Lady's Desdemona Grace. We put a great deal of consideration into our decision to breed and spent many hours in study and research before we launched our breeding program in 2001.
We raise quality AKC Labrador Retrievers in our home. Our Labs are calm, intelligent and loving, quick to learn, eager to please, and perform equally well as family companions, hunting companions, and in obedience work. We breed to produce Labradors with calm temperaments and natural hunting ability. We carefully plan and research each breeding here at Red Barn Ranch and Labradors. We strive to produce puppies that are healthy and genetically sound. Each Sire & Dam used in our breeding program must pass health screenings. Dogs used in our breeding program have OFA Good or Excellent Hips, OFA Normal Elbows, and are CERF certified annually. All of our Labrador Retrievers are vaccinated and maintained on heartworm preventative.
We have put in extensive research to develop a detailed timeline of gestational care for optimal prenatal health of our Dams and to aid in the production of healthy, beautiful puppies.
A part of the family, our puppies are born in our house and are handled on a daily basis. This gives our pups a solid start. Each puppy receives personal attention. The first seven weeks of each puppy's life is filled with love and individual care. We weigh newborn puppies twice a day for the first two days, daily until each pup has doubled in birth weight and then weekly until pups go to their new homes. All puppies come with a lifetime guarantee.
When you purchase a Labrador Retriever puppy from Red Barn Ranch and Labradors you will receive a well socialized puppy that has been vet checked, had dewclaws removed and received first shots and any required worming. The pup will also have a microchip installed, nails trimmed weekly, regular grooming, a basic understanding of housetraining and an introduction to water (weather permitting).
We encourage responsible breeding and; therefore, sell our pups with limited registration. Limited registration will be released upon proof that OFA hip and elbow and CERF clearances are in order.
